Photographic Treasure Hunt

If you are looking for a fun and unusual way to introduce your group participants to Old San Juan, we suggest a Photographic Treasure Hunt. Not only will your group discover the history of the second old-est settlement in the New World in an interactive way, they will also be involved in a great exercise in group dynamics!

The adventure begins at the hotel when each participant receives their team assignment, team instruc-tions and an Old San Juan Disposable Camera, designed especially for this event, with which to record the events of the day

The excitement starts to build about a half an hour prior to dispatch time when our treasure hunt cheer-leaders show up at your hotel in order to do a pep rally with the teams. You will have constituted the teams already at that point, and each team will gather together in an area that you'll need to arrange with the hotel. At this time the cheerleaders will explain exactly what is going to happen, they'll pass out the detailed instruction sheets (versions A, B, and C) and the actual cameras. The interaction between the teams and our cheerleaders is extremely helpful towards producing some real competitive spirit and high levels of enthusiasm.

En route to one of the three starting points in Old San Juan for the Treasure Hunt, each team will desig-nate an "Official Photographer" and develop their strategy. The staggering of the teams creates a "Road Rally" atmosphere as the teams pace themselves through Old San Juan in one of three routes. The instructions will lead them on a guided tour with instructions to photograph certain items of historical or cultural interest. Each clue is designed to engage the participants in a little exploration, but simple enough not to frustrate anyone.

As the teams reach their final destination, a Travel Services Representative will pick up the "Official Team Cameras" and take them away for developing. At a later time we will deliver the finished photos and provide each team with a "Presentation Kit" which includes poster board, felt tipped pens and glue sticks, but what happens next is up to you, the meeting planner. You will need to schedule a time and place for all of the teams to get together and work with their kits and developed pictures to prepare their Treasure Hunt storyboards for judging. Criteria for judging the contest can include "Best Photography," "Most Creative," "Most Humorous," or "Most Complete." Prizes can be awarded to winners, but one thing is assured, a good time will be had by all...and they will have the photos to prove it!

ENHANCEMENT POSSIBILITIES...
We can enhance your Old San Juan experience by providing actors dressed as famous Puerto Rican Characters to "step out of history" at strategic points to greet your teams. Imagine Christopher Colum-bus, Juan Ponce de Leon or the First Archbishop of Puerto Rico and the photo opportunities!

Other possibilities include winding up the event at one of San Juan's historical settings, where we can arrange for a private cocktail party or an elegant dinner. Or, how about lunch at the famed Hard Rock Cafe? More photo opportunities and fun!
