La Princesa
La Princesa was built outside the west walls of the Old City in 1837 as a prison and occasional site for hang-ings. It features a chapel in one corner and a spacious courtyard beneath the city walls designed to catch the breezes off of San Juan Harbor. Today, La Princesa has been beautifully restored to a grandeur unimagined by its original inhabitants as the home of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company and a Reception
Center featuring contemporary work by Puerto Rican artists. The courtyard now boasts a spectacular fountain and several large sculptures.
Whether for a sunset cocktail party or an Old World style dinner, La Princesa is a dramatic setting for a special group event. La Princesa can accommodate up to 600 persons for a wandering buffet or up to 250 persons for a sit down dinner
